IADA introduced IADA University this summer which kicked off a new program of monthly Title and Regis- tration Seminars at the IADA office in Springfield. The Secretary of State, De- partment of Revenue, and CVR staffs have participated in these seminars providing great insight and direction for our members. Thanks to our mem- bers who took time out of their busy schedules to attend. We have received great feedback from participants saying the sessions have been very informa- tive and have helped provide a clearer understanding of the systems in place. The NADA Washington Confer- ence was held mid-September in Wash- ington D.C. and proved to be another successful event. Dealers from across America convened on Capitol Hill to discuss impor tant legislative issues affecting our industry: obtaining bi- partisan support to pass S. 2663, an NADA-backed CFPB auto f i nance guidance reform bill in the Senate by the end of the year, ensuring over- broad vehicle recalls bills are defeated (S. 900/ H.R. 1181); and educating members of Congress on NADA’s tax reform priorities, such as preserving LIFO and maintaining adver tising deductibility, in anticipation of com- prehensive tax reform bill next year. IADA members attending included IADA Chairman, Sam Roberts; NADA Director and IADA Board Member, Jamie Auffenberg; IADA Member and NADA PAC President Club Member, Susan Langheim; IADA President, Pete Sander; Director of Legislative Affairs, Joe McMahon; and Director of Communications, Meghan Davlin. Joi n i ng t hem were representat ives from the CATA, Chairman, John Hen- nessy; CATA Board Member, John Alfirevich; NADA Vice Chairman and CATA Board Member, Mark Scarpelli; NADA Di rec tor and CATA Boa rd Member, Desmond Roberts; and CATA President, Dave Sloan. The IADA Board of Directors will be meeting this Novem- ber in Chicago. Please contac t your Boa rd memb e r s w i t h a ny issues or concer ns you wou ld l i ke d iscussed. At t h is meet i ng, IADA will be recognizing NADA PAC (pre- viously known as DEAC) President Club members. Join IADA & CATA for our an- nual Spring Dealer Conference as we venture to the world of family and fun at the Waldorf Astoria in Orlando, Florida, March 29th - April 2nd. This exquisite property offers many activi- ties for all ages. Stay tuned for registra- tion and pre-planned activity sign-up sheets! I would like to thank all of our deal- er members who contributed to CAR of Illinois and NADA PAC throughout the year. With your support, IADA will remain an inf luential voice at the state capitol.
