SANDER O n behalf of the IADA Board of Directors and staff, I would like to thank all of our members for your partici- pation in association activities and programs this past year. As we start 2015, we’d like to encourage you now more than ever to continue your involvement in our leg- islative grassroots efforts, and to participate in CAR of Illinois, IADA’s statewide political action committee. This past year, our combined efforts culminated with the successful enactment of sweeping Lease Tax changes in Illinois. As of January 1, 2015, the Illinois Department of Revenue (IDOR) changed the way it taxes most motor vehicle leases. Pub- lic Act 98-628 provides that, for qualifying leases of qualifying vehicles, the "selling price" upon which sales tax will be imposed will now be computed as the sum of all lease payments, including all amounts due at signing. This is a dramatic change from the old way of charging tax on the sale price of the leased vehicle. IADAhosted three Lease Tax Seminars throughout themonth of December and had close to 500 participants in attendance. We extend our appreciation to personnel from the Illinois Department of Revenue, Illinois Secretary of State, and CVRwho participated in the seminars with IADA staff for our membership.
