The Illinois DEAC Team and IADA hosted its first DEAC Event on October 1st in Springfield for contributors of DEAC. The day began with a Luncheon at the Illinois Gover- nor’s Mansion, followed by a tour and Getaway Reception at The AbrahamLincoln Presidential Museum and Library. Mem- bers of the President’s Club were recognized including: Jamie Auffenberg, Bill Abbott, Michael Auffenberg, Bob Federico, Ray Green, Joe O’Brien, Jack Schmitt, and Susan Langheim. Two additional dealers have recently joined the President’s Club: Dave Taylor and Gary Knight. The Illinois DEAC Event day was made complete by speaker, Bob Mallon. Bob is a former owner of Mallon Ford, Tacoma, who has served as WSADA President, is a past President of NADA, served 30 years as the NADA Director for Washington State, and is founder and Chairman of the National Automobile Dealers Charitable Foundation. We were thrilled to have him join us for this event! The NADA Washington Conference meetings held last month inWashington D.C. were successful. Dealers from across America convened on Capitol Hill to urge their congressmen to cosponsor House Resolution 5403. Close to 100 cosponsors have already signed on to this resolution! The bill, introduced in the House on Monday, Sept. 8, is formally titled H.R. 5403, the “Reforming CFPB Indirect Auto Financing Guidance Act.” If passed, it would nullify the CFPB’s guidance on auto lending issued inMarch 2013, compel a “public notice and comment period” before future guidance is issued in final form and require the CFPB to conduct “a study on the costs and impacts of such guidance to consumers and women-owned, minority-owned, and small businesses.” IADAmembers attending included IADA Chairman, Mike Mangold; Vice Chairman, Dave Taylor; NADA Director and IADA Board member, Jamie Auffenberg, IADA Board member Jason Roberts, IADA President, Pete Sander and Director of Legislative Affairs, Joe McMahon. As a reminder, lease tax credits are expiring at the end of this year with the new Lease Tax Legislation. Beginning January 1, 2015, House Bill 2317 will change the tax base for motor vehicle leases from the selling price of the leased vehicle to the amount of the lease payments. Monday, April 21st, The Honorable Pat Quinn signed Lease Tax Bill (HB 2317) at a special signing cer- emony in Chicago with IADA and CATA leadership present. The IADABoard of Directors will be meeting this November in Chicago. Please contact your Board members with any issues or concerns you would like discussed. Join IADA&CATA for our annual SpringDealer Conference as we return to paradise at the Marco Island Marriott Beach Re- sort, Golf Club&Spa: aworld-class resort on Florida’s Gulf Coast. There are endless activities for all ages at this breathtaking property. Stay tuned for registration and pre-planned activity sign-up sheets! I would like to thank all of our dealer members who con- tributed to CAR of Illinois and DEAC throughout the year. With your support, IADA will remain an influential voice at the state capitol. I would like to thank our IADA Vice Chair- man, Dave Taylor, Treasurer, Sam Roberts, and Secretary, Jack Schmitt for their assistance in making my term as Chairman so rewarding. Lastly, I would like to thank Pete Sander and the entire IADA staff for their great work. It’s been a pleasure to work with them.  Sincerely, Mike Mangold 2014 OFFICERS IADA CHAIRMAN’S Letter | BY MIKE MANGOLD
