It’s almost become a luxury to be able to focus on what you should be doing – selling and servicing vehicles. The truth of the matter is that because of this over-regulation, the process of selling vehicles has become very complex. It would be foolish to think that this maze of regulations will be streamlined at any time in the foreseeable future. In fact, based on recent legislative sessions in Springfield, and the current ad- ministration inWashington, things from the regulatory point of view don’t seem to be improving. So what are you, as generally small businesses, to do? Enter IADA, your state trade association. More than ever, we hope you realize the benefit of having a state trade association located in Springfield to look out for your interests and help you wade through the regulatory jungle. The recent 2012 legislative session, like nearly all sessions, saw several adverse dealer issues proposed. Had dealers not been involved in the process through IADA, many of these issues would have passed and become law. I was very proud to see the strong effort of dealers from all parts of the State who came together to protect our industry. IADAmakes our members aware of the many anti-dealer propos- als. We asked you to get involved in the grass roots process and you delivered. Several state legislators responded that they’ve never received so many calls from dealer constituents that were so knowledgeable on the issues and the process! It shows what a concentrated effort personally from all of you means to our legislators. On behalf of IADA, our staff, and the Board of Directors, I would like to thank all of the dealers who participate in the process by attending IADA events, by contributing to CAR of Illinois and DEAC, and by communicating with your legisla- tors. I would also like to thank the various metro associations and dealer groups around the State, especially the Chicago Auto Trade Association, who help strengthen our industry through a united effort.
